MARDAN: The body of the director finance of the Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan was found dumped in a deserted place in Sheikh Maltoon Town here, police said on Wednesday.

Ishfaq Afzal, brother of the victim, Mohammad Tariq, said he was informed by the Sheikh Maltoon Town police that they had found the body of his brother in the township. Afzal said his brother had attended his office on Tuesday and later went out of the varsity for his personal engagements. He said they got worried when Tariq didn’t come home till late in the night. He said Tariq’s cell number also didn’t respond till Wednesday morning.

Afzal told police they had no enmity with anyone in the area.

Police registered a case against the unknown killers and began further investigation to solve the blind murder.

Meanwhile, teaching staff and students rushed to the Mardan Medical Complex Hospital, where the body was brought, to express their condolences with the bereaved family.

They also held a protest demonstration in front of the casualty block for arrest of the killers within three days. — Correspondent
