NOWSHERA: Police claimed to have arrested two persons involved in killing of polio workers and other terrorist activities in Nowshera on Wednesday.

Official sources said that the arrested persons confessed that they had links with a terroristgroup and were involved in the killing of security personnel and polio vaccinators in Nowshera, Peshawar, Mardan and Swabi.

They were also involved in motorcycle snatching, they added.

Officials said that the arrested men were as Tariq Afridi and Saleem alias Ameer, residents of Khyber Agency.

Police conducted a raid in Fazl Koroona after re-ceiving information that some terrorists were hiding in the area.

Officials said that that the terrorists opened firing on the police party when they were challenged. Police retaliated and arrested the terrorists after a brief encounter, they said.

Police launched a search operation in the area after apprehending the two persons and arrested an Afghan refugee but his name was not disclosed.
