Burglary suspects arrested

ISLAMABAD: The capital police`s investigation wing arrested suspects in a burglary at the home of the registrar of the Supreme Court appellate bench Gilgit-Baltistan, and recovered stolen valuables and cash from their possession, police said on Thursday.

The home of Mohammad Azam, the registrar, in Media Town was robbed in September 2016 while he was away with his family. Upon their return, he informed the police his home was robbed of cash including foreign currency, gold ornaments and other valuables, and a case was registered with the Lohi Bher police on Sept 16, 2016.

The police investigation wing was given the case, and they located the suspected burglars and successfully recovered cash and gold ornaments from them during the preliminary investigation, police said.

The cash and valuables were handed over to Mr Azam, they said, and a detailed investigation is ongoing.

Separately, Inspector General of Islamabad Police (IGP) Tariq Masood Yasin directed the Homicide Unit`s investigation teams to improve their performance, police said.
