Safety, security of rail, bus routes on cards

SUKKUR: To ensure safety and security of the lives of passengers travelling on national highways and by trains, different steps may be taken to provide travellers a peaceful atmosphere.

This was according to the statement of Sindh Chief Secretary Sajjad Saleem Hotiana who was talking to officials of the administration of Sukkur Division after his arrival at Nusrat Bhutto Airport Sukkur on Wednesday.For this purpose the steps under consideration are continuous patrolling of railway tracks and national highways, increase in deployment of security officials and improvement in checking system at all the entrance and exit points in Sindh.The chief Secretary said it was the need of the hour to keep a vigilant eye over those miscreants who were trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the province.

Commissioner Sukkur Division Dr Niaz Ali Abbasi requested the chief secretary to establish a special cell along national highways which should be functional round the clock to control highway robberies, kidnappings and other crimes.On the occasion, Sukkur range police DIG Sharjeel Kareem Kharal said that all entrance and exit points in the province were being made more effective with the help of modern technology.

Sukkur Deputy Commissioner Shahzad Tahir Thaheem requested the chief secretary for re-transferring of the administrative powers to the district administration and handing over to assistant commissioners to control inflation and pricehike.
