LAHORE: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested 55 people for violating kite flying ban and recovered 2,000 kites and 145 rolls of twines from their possession.

Police registered 45 cases against those arrested under the Prohibition of Kite Flying (Amendment) Act 2009.

The Punjab government has imposed a ban on kite flying and directed police to implement it. Under the law, kite flying is prohibited in the province.

In a handout, DIG Operation Haider Ashraf said no one would be allowed to put the lives of the citizens at risk. He appealed to the parents to stop their children from flying kites. — Reporter
