`Police Assistance Lines gets new building

MARDAN: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani on Wednesday inaugurated new building of the Police Assistance Lines (PAL), which functioned on the premises of the police lines here, with the purpose to provide different services and facilities to citizens under one roof.

Talking to media persons after the inauguration, Mr Durrani said the objective of police department was to provide maximum facilities to general public.

He said the provincial government had empowered the police to make their own decisions accordingly to yield best performance.

He went on to say that police were striving to make the force as friendly and cooperative as possible in order to improve its image among people.

He said people felt hesitation to go to police stations for resolution of their disputes owing to bad image of the police stations.

`A number of developed countries have separated public dealing sections of police stations from the police station buildings and have established specialpublicfacilitation centres that provide a comfortable and welcoming ambience to its citizens,` he added.

Based on such successful examples, he said, `We have decided to establish Police Assistance Lines centres in every district of the province`.

Mr Durrani pointed out that PAL was offering corporate style solution to citizens for their day to day disputes, including theft, lost items and extortion reporting, reporting on child lost and found, rental agreement, police security clearance and character certificates, CNIC and vehicle verification, legal advice, women counter, traffic licence and excise document attestation.
