Police claim arresting 19 absconders in Kohat crackdown

KOHAT: The police in a crackdown against outlaws wanted in heinous crimes on Monday arrested 19 alleged proclaimed offenders, including an outlaw carrying head money, and seized a big quantity of arms and drugs from them, local of ficials claimed.
They said the operation, launched on the orders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief, also resulted in the arrest of Mohammad Zari alias Duddi who was carrying a head money of Rs2 million.
Four persons, harbouring him, including his father and brother, were nabbed during the raids carried out by special squads of police, maintained the officials.
The raids were conducted on the tip-offs from intelligence agencies in city and its outskirts.

The arrested persons were wanted in cases ofmurder, attempted murder, robbery, and kidnapping for ransom.
Similarly, over a 100 anti-social elements, including Afghan refugees, were arrested in the operation, they said, adding that the seizure included three Kalashnikovs, seven rifles, two repeaters, five shotguns, 14 pistols, 19 chargers, thousands of cartridges and seven kilograms of hashish.
ROBBER OVERPOWERED: Inmates of a house near the Cadet College, Kohat, on Monday overpowered a robber and handed him over to police.
The Saddar police quoted Syed Ameer, the house owner, as saying that an alleged robber identified as Aamir climbed into their house and held the family at gunpoint, asking them to hand over cash and jewellery. But somehow, he said his family got hold of the robber with a 30-bore pistol.
The police registered case against the suspected robber on the complaint of Mr Ameer.TWO KILLED: Two people were killed in separate incidents on Monday.
In Dhook Kareegran area of Gumbat, two brothers, Qadeer Khan and Qabeel Khan, allegedly barged into the house of one Khalid Khan and attacked him and his mother, Yasmeen Bibi with shovels.
According to Shahid Mehmood, brother of Khalid Khan, the injured were taken to KDA divisional headquarters hospital in serious condition. But his brother died there from his injuries.
The Gumbat police registered case against alleged killers and launched search for arresting them.
In another incident, a pickup van hit and killed a man identified as Yaqoob on the Indus Highway. The Bilitang police reached the scene and arrested the van driver, Mohammad Nadeem, resident of Rawalpindi.
A murder case was registered against him on the report of the victim`s son, Said Rehman.
