Rs39.6 billion for projects in Sahiwal division

SA HIWA L: The Punjab government has provided Rs39.64 billion for ongoing schemes and some new projects in Sahiwal division during the current financial year.

According to Habib Jillani, director (development), the Punjab government has provided Rs16 billion for running projects and the rest will be given for new schemes.

He says Rs1 billion will be spent on the development of Sahiwal University Campus.

The Sahiwal sub-campusof Bahauddin ZikariyaUniversity on 70 acres of land will be upgraded and developed into a chartered university.

Rs2 billion and Rs40.5 million will be allocated for development of Education University, Okara, and sub-campus of Agriculture University, respectively.

He says as the DHQ Hospital has been upgraded to teaching hospital and it will be associated with Sahiwal Medical College. `Hence Rs3.58 billion will be spent on DHQ hospital upgradation,` Jilani says.

Likewise, Rs321m, Rs91.1m and Rs250m will be spent on the upgradation of DHQ Hospital, Okara, DHQ Hospital, Pakpattan and THQ Hospital, Depalpur respectively.

An amount of Rs414.4m will be provided for provision of missing facilities in public schools of Sahiwal, Pakpattan and Okara districts.

The funds will be spent on the construction of new rooms, provision of clean drinking water and upgradation of toilets in public schools.

He says three new Rescue 1122 buildings will be constructed in Arifwala, Depalpur and Renala Khurd tehsils.
