HYDERABAD: Activists of the Shehri Action Committee along with members of civil society held a demonstration outside the local press club on Thursday against senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader and former education minister Pir Mazharul Haq for opposing the establishment of a university in Hyderabad.

Carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the PPP leader, they raised slogans in favour of the demand.

Speaking to the protesters, Professor Asif Zahoori alleged that the former minister opposed the idea because a university in Hyderabad would only benefit supporters of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). He said Pir Mazhar`s thinking showed that he wanted to divide Sindh.

Anwar Kundan, Maulana Hassan Raza, Sakina Solangi, Abdul Hameed also spoke and accused PirMazhar of having an antiMohajir and Hyderabadhostile mindset.
