SWABI: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Mardan division, on Friday arrested two alleged terrorists here and recovered two suicide vests from their possession.
Officials said the raid was conducted by CTD on a tip-off about the presence of the suspected terrorists in an area near the boundary between Razaar and Swabi tehsils on the Buner road.
They said the CTD officials stopped two motorcyclists for checking, and on identification, they were arrested and shifted to Mardan.
`The terrorists are in our custody and an FIR has been registered against them in the CTD police station, Mardan,` said an official when contacted by Dawn on phone.
The terrorists identified as Sir Mohammad and Matiullah belonged to Takhatabad and Mira Kachori areas of Peshawar.
Meanwhile, District Police Officer Javid Iqbal said that a crackdown against unregistered motorcycles had been launched in the district.
The police have seized over 700 unregistered motorcycles so far, and the owners have been told that without valid registration documents they would not get their bikes back. Additionally, over 410 motorcycles have been ticketed, he said. Correspondent
