LAHORE: A middle aged man tried to immolate himself outside the Lahore Press Club on Saturday to protest land grab.

The victim identified as Ameer Alam, 40, of Attock, suffered critical burn injuries and was taken to Mayo Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

Alam told reporters he took the extreme action after getting no help from any quarters as his land had been grabbed from influential people.

Qila Gujjar Singh policesaid that action would be taken against the man.

Also, Mumtaz, 35, of Khokhar Town, allegedly consumed poisonous pills and ended her life in ShaHqabad on Saturday.

Police said the woman was disturbed over the death of her three year old son.

Police handed over the body to heirs after completing legal formalities.

FOUND DEAD: A newborn baby boy was found dead in a skip in Ichhra.

Police said that the body was wrapped in a white blanket.

Quoting locals, police said a woman threw the body into skip.
