Bilawal for NAP implementation

2016-03-29
BAHAWALPUR: PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) in Punjab.

Speaking on the premises of a mills here on Monday, he condemned the suicide blast at Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park, Lahore, and said innocent people were targeted.

Accompanied by former prime minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, ex-Punjab governor Latif Khosa and others, Bilawal said the PML-N should not use the NAP against his political opponents. He added that merely press releases and advertisements would not serve the purpose and the government would have to take stern action against terrorists.

Bilawal said every body should work for the integrity and solidarity of Pakistan.

Fateha for victims of the blast was offered.

Speaking on the occasion, former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani asked the PML-N leadership to respect the mandate of PPP in the recently held election of the Rahim Yar Khan district council.

Talking about the creation of a Seraiki province and restoration of the status of Bahawalpur, the PPP leader said the issue had been complicated.

“The political leaders of south Punjab should sit together and resolve the matter.”

It may be recalled that Gilani during his stint as prime minister had strongly advocated the demand for the creation of a Seraiki province.

Regarding the statement of Bilawal about minorities, the former prime minister claimed that it was distorted by some political circles.

According to Gilani, minorities should be given representation in accordance with their population. — Correspondent
