LAHORE: Adviser to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Dr Yasmin Rashid has chided Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for making an effort to gain political mileage from the carnage in Gulshan-i-Iqbal Park by donating blood.

Talking to Dawn on Monday, Dr Rashid said it would have been a noble gesture of the chief minister, had he been ht enough to donate one unit of blood. She said there were certain criteria that needed to be fulfilled before one should donate blood for transfusion.

Explaining the criteria, she said, the age of blood donor should be less than 50 years and should not be having any medical problem.

She said the blood should beproperly scanned for all sorts of viral infections.

She said the amount of blood donated must be between 400 mls to 550 mls and added that the chief minister had donated only 100 mls blood. In view of these requirements that the chief minister did not fulfil, she said, the unnecessary projection had actually put on about his intentions. Instead, she said, the chief minister should have called his son Hamza to donate blood.

Dr Yasmin Rashid demanded that the Punjab government should ensure that all injured should be given proper medical care besides ensuring rehabilitation of all blast victims and their families.

She also asked the party youth to reach hospitals and donate blood to save humanity.
