CHAKWAL, April 28: The man who shouted the slogan `Jaag Talagang jaag/ Tehndi pug gai aa Gujrat` (Wake up O Talagang wake up /Otherwise your turban would go to the Gujrat) in the general elections of 2008 and won support using this slogan against his rival Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, has now announced to lend full support to his former rival.

Sardar Faiz Tamman, former Member National Assembly, and Fauzia Behram, former Member Provincial Assembly from the Pakistan People`s Party, have announce d their decision to support Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.

Faiz Tamman was elected MNA as an inde-pendent candidate in 2002, and later joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Q after winning.

In 2008, he was denied the PML-Q ticket, so he contested the election against Chaudhry Pervez Elahi on PML-N`s ticket and defeated Pervez Elahi by a few hundred votes.

He then resigned in July 2010 alleging that the Sharif brothers had ignored him while disbursing the funds for the uplift projects in his constituency. Mr. Tamman also filed his nominations in the by-election for the seat just vacated, and in his nominations, admitted that he his academic qualification was F.A.

This confirmed that he had resigned fromthe national assembly because of his controversial BA degree. He then switched to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in 2011, but did not file his nominations for the upcoming election.

He was approached by his uncle Sardar Mumtaz Tamman (PML-N candidate in NA 61), Sardar Mansoor Hayat Tamman (PTI) and the PML-Q to support them. He chose to support the PML-Q but did not join the party.

Fauzia Behram was elected MPA in 1988 and 1990 on the ticket of Islami Jamhoori Ittihad (IJI). She then switched to the Pakistan People`s Party in the early 90s, and became MPA on a reserved seat in the lastPPP government.

During this period, differences between her and the party`s district president Shahjahan Sarfaraz Raja kept the workers worried.

When she was denied the party ticket for the upcoming elections, she filed her nominations as an independent candidate, but later withdrew and formally joined the PML-Q.

With the support of Faiz Tamman and Fauzia Behram, Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, who already has a strong position in NA 61, may give a tough time to the PML-N and PTI in the constituency.
