Intermediate exams begin across interior of Sindh

HYDERABAD: The Intermediate (Class XI & XH) examinationsinallfourboards oftheinterior of Sindh Hyderabad, Suklcur,MirpurlchasandLarkana got under way on Tuesday.

The Hyderabad Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) had constituted 22 monitoring and vigilance committees which caught 37 cheating and three impersonation cases on the first day when nearly 100,000 candidates took their Erst paper in 10 districts Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Tando Mohammad Khan, Dadu, Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, Thatta and Sujawal.

The Mirpurkhas board conducted the exams in four districts where the monitoring and vigilance committees concerned caught 18 candidates cheating.

In Khairpur district, the Sukkurboardheldtheñrstpaper under a strict check on use of unfair means. The vigilance com-mittees visited various exam centres and found 50 students involved in cheating.

The Larkana board conducted the intermediate examinations at 89 centres where around 60,000 candidates took their first paper.

The centres have been set up in Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Mehar and Dadu.

The board has constituted 30 vigilance committees to check use of unfair means. According to the board officials, a total of 222 cases of cheating and 56 cases of impersonation were detected on the first day.

The highest number of copying cases (100) was reported from Larkana district, they said, adding that no such case was reported in Dadu district.

At most of the exam centres, candidates complained of power outages and inadequate arrangement for drinl(ing water.

There were also reports of the late arrival of question papers at some centres. Candidates also faced hardship in taking the exam due to intense heat.
