Students seeks transfer of Malakand BISE chairman

TIMERGARA: Hundreds of students of Government College, Gulabad Adenzai, on Monday demonstrated outside the Chakdara Press Club here demanding transfer of the Chairman Board of IntermediateandSecondary Education, Malakand, Prof Shaukat Ali.

The protesting students blocked the ChakdaraTimergara road for some time and chanted slogans against the board management for its f ailure to satisf y students regarding their HSSC examination results.

They alleged that a total of 112 students of the college had been declared failed in mathematics paper. They said several students had been disqualified for five years, which was unjust.

They threatened to prolong their protest if the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government did not immediately transfer the education board chairman.

AWARENESS WALKS: Lower Dir District Nazim Mohammad Rasool Khan on Monday urged all segments of society to play active role in raising awareness about the threat of Dengue and other f atal diseases.

He was addressing a public meeting at Balambat after a dengue awareness walk arranged jointly by the health department and Sarhad Rural Support Programme.

Pamphlets highlighting precautionary measures against dengue virus were also distributed among passers-by and shopkeepers during the walk. The participants were carrying banners and placards inscribed with phrases highlighting the importance of preventive measures against the dengue virus.

Additional deputy commissioner Irshad Khan, DHO Dr Shaukat Ali and others spoke on the occasion and said isolation wards at all the tehsilheadquartershospitals Dir had been set up for treating the dengue patients.

A similar walk was organised by doctors, paramedics and political activists in Timergara. Medical Superintendent of DHQ hospital Anwar Zada led the walk.

Meanwhile, the Chakdara Polytechnic Institute also arranged a dengue awareness walk. Senior citizens, students and government officials attended the event which was led by Assistant Commissioner, Adenzai, Shah Jamil Khan.

The speakers stressed the students` role in preventing the outbreak of dengue.

They said taking precautionary measures could save people from falling prey to the disease. Correspondent
