Compensation for Indian shelling victims

NAROWAL: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered the district government to pay Rs500,000 to the families of each deceased and Rs25,000 to 100,000 to each injured person who came under Indian firing and shelling across the Working Boundary along the Shakargarh sector.

Narowal District Coordination Officer Rafaqat Ali said this on Friday. The compensatory amount will be delivered to the families immediately.Mr Ali said the continuous firing by the Indian forces in the area had forced the civilians to evacuate their homes.

The district government has set up eight relief camps in schools for the affected people where they are being provided with food.

He said that camps for their livestock had also been set up.

The unprovoked firing so far has claimed three lives and injured 25 people whereas two dozens of animals have also died.

The injured people are being treated at the Shakargarh Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, of them eight have been shif ted to the Sialkot Combined Military Hospital.
