LAHORE: The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has served an eviction notice on Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid regarding its property he has allegedly been occupying in Rawalpindi since Musharraf`s era.
According to a press release issued by the ETPB here on Friday, Mr Rashid had been occupying the trust`s seven houses/flats (adjacent to Lal Haveli) measuring over 10-marla since long.
The notice has been served by the ETPB deputy administrator (Rawalpindi), requesting the AML chief to vacate the property within seven days or face a legal administrative action.
Talking to Dawn, ETPB Chairman Siddiqul Farooq rejected the impression of any sort of political victimisation, saying the notice was not meant to harass Sheikh Rashid.
`Since I took over the charge as chairman, I launched a campaign again all influential people possessing the trust land unlawfully. I took action against an influential mill owner for illegally occupying the state land in Nankana. I took similar action in Anarkali recently,` he explained.
