Two security men, peace volunteer shot dead

PESHAWA R/BANNU: Two security personnel and member of a local pro-government `peace committee` were killed in separate attacks on Monday in Peshawar and Bannu.
A policeman was killed and three other people were injured when assailants opened fire on a vehicle of the recently-launched City Patrol Force in Shinwari Town, near the Ring Road in Peshawar, in the evening.
A police of ficial told Dawn that apparently there were two attackers who escaped on foot.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Asmatullah, the official in charge of the patrolling team, was killed and driver Fawad, constable Rabnawaz and a passer-by, Samiul Haq, were injured.
According to officials in Bannu, Malik Shawar Gul, a local tribal elder and member of the Janikhel Peace Committee, was shot dead by three people when he was going to his shop. The killers escapedafterthe attack.
In another attack in Bannu, Levies Hawaldar Noor Zaman was shot dead by masked men on a motorcycle in Mandi Bakakhel.
The banned militant group, Jamaatul Ahrar, claimed responsibility for the Bannu attacks.
