Mini, check dams to be constructed in Karak

KARAK: Production bonus funds of Rs25 million would be utilised on the construction of mini and check dams at suitable places in Karak to resolve the water shortage problem for domestic and agriculture purposes, said deputy commissioner Abid Khan Wazir on Monday.

Talking to media persons here, he said water table would rise with the construction of these dams. He said the Rs25 million had been released by the oil and gas companies for uplift of the district.

Mr Wazir said ponds would also be constructed in hilly areas to arrange drinking water for wildlife throughout the year. He said funds would be utilised through soil conservation department, adding survey of the dams would be launched soon. He said he would continue to serve thedistrict without any discrimination and asked the people to contact him in case of any complaint regarding any employee or officer.

UNIVERSITY RATING: The Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak has got the X category in the rankings of the Higher Education Commission.

This was claimed in a press release issued on Monday. It said that in the recent ranking issued by the HEC, the KKKUK grabbed category X on good performance.

Vice-chancellor Prof Mohammad Ibrahim Khattak congratulated the faculty members and the staff of Quality Enhancement Cell for the distinction achieved. He said that soon the university would become a great learning seat in the region. Correspondent
