2015-04-30
LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) sent on a 10-day physical remand 47 suspects allegedly involved in the lynching incident after twin blasts at churches in Youhanabad.

Police have so far produced 69 suspects before the ATC 27 on March 30, two on March 31, 23 on April 1 and 17 on April 2.

Police on Wednesday submitted to the ATC that all 47 suspects involved in lynching of two men, damaging public and private property and harassing a woman driver had been produced for grant of remand.

Nishtar Colony police produced the suspects before the court in tight security.

The 10 sought a 14-day physical remand of the sus-pects and stated before the court that their further custody was required to complete interrogation.

The suspects` counsel informed the court that police had implicated his clients in cases on the basis of footages and reports broadcast by private TV channels.

The prosecutor argued that the suspects had been booked after an identification parade conducted on court orders and no one had been taken into custody without fulfilling legal procedure.

The judge handed over the suspects in police custody on a 10-day physical remand and directed them to complete interrogation until the next date of hearing. Reporter
