Woman killed by husband

GUJRAT: A woman was killed on Saturday allegedly by her husband in Gulshan Colony in the jurisdiction of the Jalalpur Jattan city police.

Muhammad Faisal with his brothers Muhammad Yasir and Muhammad Sarfraz strangulated his wife Saba, 21, at their house over a domestic dispute.

Complainant Haji Ishfaq, brother of the deceased woman, said his sister was pregnant at the time of murder.

The police arrested the three accused andhanded over the body to heirs after autopsy at the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital.

There has been an unprecedented rise in women killings in Gujrat in the last few weeks as 17 women were killed in the last two months.

SPAIN: Ambassador of Spain to Pakistan Carlos Morales says they willhelp set up a Spanish translation centre at the Centre for Languages and Translations Studies (CeLTS) at the University of Gujrat (UoG).

Mr Morales visited the UoG where he delivered a lecture on `PakistanSpain relations a general overview`.

The Spanish envoy said that he was overwhelmed by the state-of-the-art infrastructure available to the students of the varsity.

CeLTS Chairman Dr Ghulam Ali briefed the visitors about the translation process and the projects by CeLTS.

Mr Morales said that the Spanish languages translation centre would help the people of the two countries understand the rich civilization, diverse culture and traditions of the two different regions and bring them further closer to each other.

He said that the majority of Pakistani expatriates living in Spain were from Gujrat and its adjoining districts.
