By Our Staff Reporter 2015-07-30
LAHORE: The Punjab government on Wednesday appointed Dr Uzma Qureshi the caretaker vice chancellor (VC) of the Lahore College for Women University (LCWU).

Dr Qureshi, the only permanent dean of the LCWU and director of its Institute of Education, would look after day-to-day matters of the varsity till appointment of a full-fledged VC, said a source.

The post fell vacant after tenure of incumbent Dr Sabiha Mansoor expired on July 13 this year.

Some 10 universities in Punjab are without VCs and delay in their appointment had started affecting the working of these institutions.

Higher Education Department Secretary Irum Bokhari told Dawn that a summary for the appointment of VCs was sent to the chief minister a couple of days ago.
