Another student electrocuted at school

FAISALABAD: Another minor student of a government school was electrocuted at Chak 65-GB, Awagat, Jaranwala Road, on Monday. On Saturday last, nine-year-old Noor Fatima, a Class-H student, was electrocuted at her school at Chak 258-RB, Lama Pind, while she was drinking water from a tap that was electrified.

In the latest incident, six-year-old Mannan, a student of the Government MC School, Awagat, suf fered a severe electric shock when he accidentally touched an electricity pole installed near the school. He died on the spot.

On being informed of the incident, Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani, police and education department officials arrived at the school and inquired about details of the incident.

The DC said he had ordered a probe into the incident, saying action would be taken against the school officials if found negligent.

He ordered removal of all electricity poles installed inside or around the schools in the district. He said Fesco officials had also been summoned on the spot to make arrangements for immediate removal of the pole or its insulation. He said the pole was installed outside the school to place a transformer there. Staff Correspondent
