Teachers asked to treat students with affection

LAKKI MARWAT: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam MPA Munawar Khan Marwat has called upon the teachers to avoid corporal punishment and treat their students with affection.

He was speaking as a chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony in Faiz Model High School here on Tuesday. He gave a laptop and cash prize to Mohammad Asfandyar who had topped the SSC examination held under the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Bannu.

Other position-holder students were given trophies and cash prizes. The school`s principal, Haji Faiz Mohammad Khan, headmastersHajiAbdulQayyum Khan and Saifur Rehman and notables of the locality were also present on the occasion.

`The use of stick by teachers in the classroom confronts students with psychological problems thus paving the way for them to discontinue their education,` said the MPA.

He said that students in his constituency had the facility of high schools at a distance of one kilometre from their homes.

He said that at least 10 drinking water tubewells had been put on solar power, while water supply schemes had been installed in all rural localities of the constituency.

EID SECURITY: The police and Elite Force commandos have been deployed on the exit and entry points of Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts ahead of Eidul Azha to maintain peace in the region.

An official said on Tuesday that the deployment was made as a part of the security plan to ensure protection of people`s lives and properties during the religious festival.

He said that policemen in plainclothes would also perform duty at mosques, Eidgahs and business centres, while traffic plan had also been chalked out.

He said that temporary checking points had been established in the border areas located with frontier tribal regions to stop possible infiltration of miscreants into the settied areas.
