Protest against shortage of teachers

KARAK: The residents of Kurd Sharif and adjacent localities here on Wednesday staged a rally against shortage of teachers in the lone government middle schoolforboys ofthe area.They threatened to lock the school if teachers were not provided to it.

The protesters led by former union council nazim lkhtiar Rehman and parent-teacher council chairman Amanullah demanded upgradation of the school to high school and meeting shortage of teachers.

The protesters said that the school was established in 1991, but strength of the teachers was never made according to the sanctioned posts. They said that only three teachers of drawing, Arabic and theology were running the school. They regretted that posts of the headmaster and two certificate teachers were yet to be fulfilled.

The protesters said that shortage of teachers had forced them to admit their children to the schools in Mianwali district of Punjab. They said that they had approached the high ups of the local education department and even the education minister for fulfilling the vacant posts, but to no avail.

They demanded of the education department to provide teachers to the school as soon as possible to save the precious time of students. The elders said that work on construction of a girls` primary school in the area should be expedited. Correspondent
