2015-10-30
he Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), with the help of the US Embassy in Islamabad, upgraded the university library and has named a library reading room after the American feminist and radical Susan B.

Anthony.

Susan B. Anthony was a leading figure in the women`s suffrage moment of the late 19th century as well as a women`s rights and anti-slavery activist.

FJWU, in collaboration with the US embassy, held an inaugural ceremony of the Susan B. Anthony reading room (SBARR) in the library.

FJWU Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. Samina Amin Qadir and US embassy Counselor for Public Affairs Christina Tomlinson inaugurated the event.

According to an FJWU spokesperson the refurbishment includes additional access to books, magazines, a scholar`s database and state of the art technology for FJWU faculty and students.

He said the project was made possible by a recently signed three year agreement between FJWU and the US embassy.

The room is part of the embassy`s network of 17 `Lincoln Corners` in Pakistan.

Lincoln Corners are resource centres and event spaces hosted in partnership with Pakistani libraries, universities and cultural centres.
