15 students injured in Karak as van plunges into ravine

KARAK: At least 15 students of a private school were injured when their van plunged into a deep ravine in Gurguri area of Banda Daud Shah tehsil her on Thursday.

Six of the injured students were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar in critical condition.

The van carrying students of a private school to Teri from Gurguri plunged into a deep ravine in Gurguri area.

Fifteen students were injured in the accident.

The local people shifted the injured students to civil hospital in Teri but six of them were referred to Peshawar due to their precarious condition.

The doctors at the hospital said that condition of other students was stable.

The injured students were identified as Amjadullah, Kaleemullah, Mohammad Noor, Mohammad Umar, Mohammad Nazeer, Mohammad Sabir, Yasir Hayat, Abdul Wahid, Haroonur Rasheed, Ihsanullah, Abbas, Akhter Gul, Rehman, Waseem and Daud.

U N I V E R S I T Y : Co-curricular activities played an important role in character building of the students, said Khushal Khan Khattak University Vicechancellor Dr Mohammad Ibrahim.

He was addressing the oath taking ceremony of the office-bearers of different societies established in the university here on Thursday.

Dr Mohammad Zubair administered oath to the office-bearers of the societies.

Dr Ibrahim said that the education imparted through could be applied through cocurricular activities.

`E ducation helps a human being to think critically and critical thinking creates difference between human being and animals, he added.

The vice-chancellor claimed that they were trying their level best to provide better environment to the students to build their personality.

He asked the students to put their share in the building of the university.

Earlier, retired Brigadier Sher Daraz said in his address that educational institutions prepared students for their future responsibilities.

He asked the students to learn about Islam, Pakistan and world history by taking advantage of the rich library of the university.
