Dialogue on climate change

ISLAMABAD: The Civil Society Coalition for Climate Change (CSCCC), the Ministry of Climate Change and the French Embassy hosted a seminar on climate change titled `Framing the Pakistan Agenda for COP 22`on Friday.

The aim of the event was to hold a dialogue between legislators, policy makers, civil society and the media on the 1(ey elements of Pakistan`s Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC).

The dialogue will serve as a prequel to the 22nd Conference of Parties which will be held in Morocco on Nov 7-18 this year. Speaking at the event, the Federal Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid appreciated the efforts of French Ambassador Martine Dorance.

The minister said the government wanted to meet its obligations under the COP 21 Paris Agreement and establish a Climate Change Authority which will guide and coordinate all actions pertaining to climate change.

He said the government is also committed to strengthening the Global Change Impact Study Centre as a specialised institute for climate change research. A Reporter
