ustrian Ambassador Brigitta Blaha hosted an event at the Austrian Residence to celebrate her country`s national day this week. The chief guest at the event was Rana Tanveer Hussein, the federal minister for defence production.
In their speeches, the ambassador and the minister talked about the relations between Pakistan and Austria. Ambassador Blaha emphasised the importance of cultural and educational cooperation. She said Austria is financing 60 Pakistanis pursuing doctoral degrees or carrying out other research.
Photo art by Michael Bruckner was displayed at the entrance to the residence and Mr Bruckner and three other members of the Nifty`s music group entertained the guests with songs.
The guests were served traditional Austrian dishes, including `Apfel Strudel` pastry and `Sauerkraut` cabbage.
`It was a pleasant event and the nice weather made it even more enjoyable. I liked that the event was held at the ambassador`s residence, which was a nice change from receptions held in various hotels,` said a Pakistani guest.
