2016-10-30
he new Argentinean Ambassador Ivan lvanissevich and his wife hosted a music concert in Marriot Hotel this week, followed by a poolside reception to observe 65 years of diplomatic relations with Pakistan. The Mayor of Islamabad and Capital Development Authority Chairman Sheikh Ansar Aziz was invited as chief guest along with the Advisor to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, who also delivered a speech.

The event was attended by ambassadors and other dignitaries.

`If the foreign guests did not already love classical music from the sub-continent, the evening will certainly change that,` said a Pakistani guest.

After the concert, French Ambassador Martine Dorace said she and her husband had enjoyed the concert.

The concert was hosted in collaboration with the ` Mausikaar Welfare Trust`, a group run by Dr Seema Khan, who said she lived for most of the year in the UK and wanted to help local musicians gain recognition at home and abroad.

The concert was one of three events hosted by the Argentinean Embassy to mark 65 years of diplomatic relations with Pakistan this month.

The first event was a lunch-time `flower offering ceremony` at the Argentina Park in G-6 and Friday evening, the ambassador inaugurated an art exhibition at the Satrang Gallery in which the works of famous Argentine painter Gonzalo Sojo were displayed. The artist had also attended the event.

`With so many events in a row, I feel that the new ambassador is beginning to become as visible as the former ambassador and dean of the diplomatic corps, the legendary Rodolfo Martin Saravia, who served in Pakistan for more than a decade`, said a foreign ambassador.
