WE are not producing enough jobs and opportunities that can accommodate highly-qualified persons. Many PhD scholars produced here in our educational institutes, or those that obtained their PhD degrees abroad, have some pragmatic ideas about how to bridge the academia with the industry. Or is a PhD degree a mere piece of paper? It is good to win a scholarship. But at the end of the day we must come up with an idea that shows us some direction that leads to success and prosperity. Make some changes to it and your research article is ready. We are increasing the number of research articles but there is zero impact on one`s life. We are working on those ideas which the world worked on 50 years ago.
The fault in our system is that we are blind followers and do not have the courage to question a system. The HEC should devise criteria for judging capabilities and potentials of professors supervising PhD candidates and also for newly-emerging PhD scholars.
