KARACHI: Loan disbursements of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) under Prime Minister`s Youth Business Loan (PMYBL) scheme rose to approximately Rs15 billion, with total number of borrowers exceeding 14,700 by December 28, 2016, a press release issued by the NBP on Thursday said.

This year, a 140 per cent increase in loan portfolio size was noted.

`NBP ef fectively improved its internal processes for disbursement, and as a result we have witnessed significant growth in loan figures disburse under the PMYBL scheme,` the press release added.

Last year, the total portfolio of PMYBL Scheme of NBP was Rs6.25bn, with the total number of borrowers reaching 6,791.-Staf f Reporter
