Jirga criticises Orakzai political agent

By Our Correspondent 2014-03-31
KOHAT: Muttahida Qabail Party (MQP) has threatened to block the Kohat-Parachinar road in front of the Orakzai Agency headquarters offices in Hangu to protest against the attitude of the tribal administration.

MQP vice-chairman Malik Noor Afridi said here the other day that a tribal jirga was invited by the political agent of Orakzai Agency to discuss the rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons.

However, he said that members of the jirga constituted on the directives of the PA were not allowed to enter his office by the guards at the main gate of Orakzai Agency headquarters in Hangu for unknown reasons.

Mr Afridi said that the political agent during his earlier discussions had asked them to constitute a jirga by picking two elders from each tribe and come to the agency offices in Hangu for a meeting to discuss the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons.

He said that the tribesmen had informed the political agent that the IDPs were living in subhuman conditions in Kohat, Peshawar, Fateh Jhang and other areas for the last four years. The MQP leader asked Governor Shaukatullah to take notice of the incident.
