KHAR: Senator Hidayatullah Khan on Sunday accused Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra of discriminating against Bajaur Agency in development schemes.
The lawmaker stated this while addressing a public meeting in Bai Chena area of Khar after inspecting the ongoing development schemes in the region.
He claimed the governor was not sincere in addressing the problems of the people of Bajaur.
He said Mr Jhagra had promised with him to include 12 new primary schools for Bajaur Agency in the current ADP, but he didn`t keep his word.
Following the exclusion of the schemes from the ADP, the lawmaker said, he boycotted the ADP meeting held in the Governor House a few days ago.
He also criticised the governor forimposing ban on construction of new schools in the tribal areas, saying the ban was unjustified.
The senator asked the governor to exempt Bajaur Agency from the ban as there was lack of educational institutions in the region.
However, the senator hoped that the governor would play his role in improving living standard of the people of tribal areas.
Hidayatullah Khan flayed the federal government for ignoring the tribal areas in development schemes, as no mega project was approved for Fata during the tenure of the incumbent government.
He noted that a number of development schemes had been pending for long owing to lack of government interest and funds.
The lawmaker announced to put the existing water supply schemes on solar power to overcome shortage of water in the agency.
