AIOU to open `accessibility centre`

ISLAMABAD: The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has announced that it will set up an `accessibility centre` for visually impaired students and its national library.

The centre will be available free of cost, and will be functional within the next few days.

AIOU vice chancellor (VC) Dr Shahid Siddiqui said being a public sector university, it is AIOU`s national responsibility to cater to those with challenges or special needs.

Siddiqui said that the centre will be equipped with computers, scanners, printers and software that will allow visually impaired users to access content on the internet.

The VC said that the AIOU will also host a cricket tournament for disabled children, to encourage them to have an active sociallife.
