New compensation package for Levies from next month

KHAR, Oct 30: The federal government increased compensation amount for the heirs of killed Levies personnel in tribal areas from Rs500,000 to Rs3 million, said MNA Shahabuddin Khan here on Wednesday.

Talking to journalists, he said that that the new `Shuhada` package for Levies force would be implemented next month under which the family members of every Levies man killed would be given Rs3m by the government.

The lawmaker from Bajaur said that increase in the compensation amount would end the sense of deprivation among the personnel of Levies Force.He said that Levies performed duty valiandy as a frontline force against militants.

Mr Khan said that government recognised the role of Levies personnel against militants. The whole nation was proud of Levies Force for its efforts in restoration of peace in Fata,he added.

`The new package is for the heirs of all Levies personnel, who were killed during the war against terrorism in tribal areas,` the lawmaker said.

He said that initially the families of 50 Levies personnel in Bajaur would be compensated under the new package.

`Cheques have all ready been handed over to the administration of Bajaur,he added.

Mr Khan said that the federal government would provide rights and facilities to Levies Force at par with other paramilitary forces in the country.

`Fata is a part of Pakistan and the Levies force has always rendered valuable sacrifices in the large interest of the country but unfortunately it has been deprived of the rights and facilities being provided to other forces,` he said.

The MNA said that the federal government would also introduce a comprehensive package to provide free education, health and other facilities to the scions of killed Levies personnel.
