Teacher found murdered LANDI KOTAL, Oct 30: Bullet-riddled body of a private school teacher was found in a playground in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency on Wednesday.

Khasadar force officials said that Qisam Gul, teacher of the Khyber Public School, was abducted on Tuesday by some unidentified gunmen from Ghundi Pump House area of Jamrud.

They said that his body was left in a playground near Ghundi village which was spotted by local residents who reported the incident to local political administration.

The body was later handed over to his relatives who said that they had no enmity with anyone.

No one took responsibility for the cold-blooded murder.Correspondent Blast creates panic SWABI, Oct 30: A bomb planted outside the house of a local lawyer went off on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, creating panic in the area, police said. However, the family members of Wazir Mohammad advocate remained unhurt in the blast.

Local people rushed to the house soon after the explosion.

The police also reached the spot and collected evidence and recorded statements of the family.

According to bomb disposal squad, at least one kilogram explosive was used in the device. -Correspondent Dengue deaths climb to 45 MINGORA, Oct 30: Another dengue patient on Wednesday died at Saidu Group of Teaching Hospital here, raising the toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 45 in Swat district.

Dr Wasil Khan, focal person for dengue emergency unit, identified the dead as Bawar Khan, 75, resident of Mingora city. He said that 21 more residents tested positive for dengue on Wednesday, adding that of the total 5,060 patients admitted to the hospital 4,834 had been discharged after treatment.

He said that 15 patients, including 12 men and three women, were admitted to high dependency unit of the hospital as their condition was critical. -Correspondent PRCS centre set up PESHAWAR, Oct 30: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society on Wednesday set up a command and control centre here to enable the organisation to coordinate with its district and UC level branches and ensure rapid response to calamities.

`We need highly coordinated efforts to reach to the needy and vulnerable population in the aftermaths of natural and man-made disasters,` society`s KP chairman Dr Sher Mohammad Khan told participants of the inaugural ceremony of the centre.

The PRCS in collaboration with German Red Cross (GRC) is also setting up a warehouse with capacity of storing relief packages for 3,000 families, he said.

Former PRCS secretary general Brigadier Ilyas Khan, members of managing body and representatives of GRC were also in attendance.

The centre, said Dr Sher would help cope with any emergency situation in far flung areas of the province. -Bureau Report Declamation contest MINGORA, Oct 30: A declamation contest was held at the Wadudia Hall in Saidu Sharif here on Wednesday.

Sixteen students from Swat and Malakand district participated in the contest organised by the army.

In English category, students delivered speeches on the title `my vision of Swat` while some participants spoke in Urdu on the topic `Swat my dream`.

Mingora Force Commander Brigadier Sohail Nasar Khan was the chief guest on the occasion. Swat deputy commissioner Syed Imtiaz Hussain, teachers, civil and military officials were also in attendance.

In English category, Faisal Khursheed got first position while Husna Ihsan stood second and Asam third, respectivley. In Urdu category, Sumair Ahmad was declared winner, while Sajjad got second and Asma achieved third position, respectivley.

Later, the chief guest distributed prizes to the winners.

On the occasion, Brig Sohail said society could be developed through better education and urged students to focus on study. -Correspondent Power tariff raise protested PESHAWAR, Oct 30: Participants at a protest camp staged here on Wednesday against the crease in power tariff demanded of central leaders of political parties to raise voice against the `injustice`.

Pakhtun Awareness Movement had set up the camp along Sher Shah Suri Road near the press club here.

They said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was producing cheap hydel electricity but despite that its people were forced to pay inflated bills amid loadshedding. -Correspondent Bomb defused CHARSADDA, Oct 30: The police on Wednesday foiled a sabotage attempt by defusing an explosive device planted by unknown miscreants at a market in Shabgadar bazaar here.

Police officials said they had got information that a suspected bag was lying at the Murad market on Peshawar road in Shabgadar bazaar. `Police personnel along with bomb disposal unit rushed to the site and cordoned off the area, they said.

The officials said the BDU personnel defused the explosive device concealed in a shopping bag. According to them, five kilogram explosives were used in the remote controlled bomb.

The Shabqdar police lodged FIR against unknown miscreants and started investigation. -Correspondent
