12-kg bomb defused in Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT: Police on Monday thwarted a sabotage attempt by defusing a homemade bomb in Nar Shezad Kallay near Naurang town.

An official said that they were informed by villagers about the presence of a suspiclous item near the house of Zainud Din in Nar Shezad Kallay. He said that a contingent of police was sent to the village that besieged the area.

`The law enforcers restricted the villagers from visiting the place and called bomb disposal squad from Lakki city,` the official said.

He said that bomb disposal squad officials told them that it was 12 kilograms homemade bomb with detonators, batteries, wire and a watch connected to it. The bomb was defused safely, the official added.

Meanwhile, the wildlife department organised a daylong workshop for hunters toeducate them on conservation of wildlife.

Experts said on the occasion that education of hunters was inevitable to make hunting safe and enjoyable and conserve wildlife as well.

They told the hunters about the licence eligibility requirements and called upon them to avoid indulging into illegal hunting.

`The department issues licences for possession and hunting of wildlife species especially birds, therefore people fond of hunting should get licences and follow rules and laws of hunting,` they said.

The experts said that wildlife officials should not allow illegal hunting. Meanwhile, wildlife department on Monday awarded local journalist Ghulam Mursalin Marwat in recognition of his services for conservation of wildlife and environment. Correspondent
