Trilateral dialogue

2018-01-01
IT is welcoming to note that China has of fered to extend the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to Afghanistan. The Chinese offer was made at the first trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Pakistan, China and Afghanistan held in Beijing recently.

Commenting on the report that CPEC`s extension to Afghanistan has sparked concerns in India, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said the CPEC was not directed against any country, including India. She further said Afghanistan was a common neighbour to both China and Pakistan and both countries have a strong desire to develop their economy and improve the livelihood of their people.

If all countries are sincere in counteringterrorism and militancy, peace will return to the region, particularly in Pakistan and Afghanistan, besides economic progress and development.

If India is not ready to listen to what Pakistan says, it should at least believe in what China has said.
