The IO submitted that the suspect`s further custody was required for interrogation and completion of other legal formalities, which were yet to be completed. He pleaded the magistrate to extend his physical remand in police custody to enable him complete the investigation.

While turning down the IO`s request for his further remand in police custody, the magistrate remanded the suspect in judicial custody till Feb 6. The IO was told to produce him on the next date along with an investigation report.

According to the police, young Hajira had left her parents` house some 10 days ago and purportedly solemnised freewill marriage with Anis Rehman.

However, police had recovered the girl after her father lodged a case of her kidnapping and subsequently the investigating officer had brought the girl to the court to get her statement recorded before the court.

It further said that Ameer Jan chased her and opened fire, killing his daughter and wounding the escorting police head constable Imran Zaman and a 20-year-old passer-by Wajid Kaleem.
