Thrilling competitions continue on second day of Khelta Punjab Games

LAHORE: Different competitions were held on the second day of the Khelta Punjab Games at different venues here at the Nishtar Sports Complex on Friday.
Around 2,000 male and female players from nine divisions of Punjab province are competing in different 12 disciplines of the gala.
In athletics, Uzair from Bahawalpur clinched gold in the men`s 100m race, while M Pervez of Lahore and M Sajid of Multan secured second and third places, respectively.
In the men`s 800m race, M Raza from Sahiwal took the top position, followed by Arsalan Ahmed from Sargodha and M Zubair from Gujranwala. In the women`s 100m race, Khaula fromRawalpindi emerged victorious, with Khadija from Lahore and Malaika from Gujranwala finishing behind her. Bushra Farman of DG Khan won the women`s 800m race, while Mubeen Yasin from Sahiwal and Nazia Ehsan from Sargodha secured second and third positions.
Faisal from Faisalabad dominated the men`s 200m race, ahead of Sharjeel from Lahore and Mujahid from Multan. In the women`s javelin throw event, Khadija from Faisalabad secured first place, followed by Yusra Ayub from Lahore and Sania from Gujranwala.
Meanwhile, in the men`s javelin throw, Arham from Faisalabad claimed the gold, with Arslan Ahmed from DG Khan and Kashif Ali from Gujranwala finishing in second and third places.
Basketball competitions were equally competitive. In the boys`category, Multan defeated DG Khan 43-16, Lahore beat Bahawalpur 48-30, Faisalabad secured victory over Sahiwal 57-17, and Sargodha outplayed Rawalpindi 77-15. On the girls` side, Multan triumphed over DG Khan 23-4, while Lahore dominated Bahawalpur 58-14.
Sargodha defeated Gujranwala 16-3 in another exciting match.
In volleyball, Sahiwal emerged victorious against Bahawalpur with a 2-0 win. Faisalabad outclassed Rawalpindi by the same margin, while Gujranwala defeated Multan 2-0. Lahore also registered a 2-0 win against Sargodha.
Faisalabad thrashed Gujranwala 9-0 in the girls` hockey, while Sargodha secured a 6-2 victory over DG Khan. In the boys` category, Faisalabad edged past Gujranwala with a 5-3 win.
In badminton boys` event,Bahawalpur defeated Rawalpindi 2-0, Lahore secured a 2-1 win over Gujranwala, Multan outplayed DG Khan 2-0 and Bahawalpur overcame Sargodha 2-1. The girls` badminton saw Bahawalpur winner against Rawalpindi 2-1, Gujranwala overcame Lahore 2-0, Multan secured a 2-0 victory against DGKhan, and Rawalpindi dominated Sargodha 2-0.
Table tennis match of boys` category were won by Sargodha against Rawalpindi 3-1, Faisalabad outclassed DG Khan 3-0, Gujranwala edged out Sahiwal 3-2, Bahawalpur defeated Multan 3-2, and Lahore triumphed over Sargodha 3-0. In the girls` category, Sargodha beat Rawalpindi 3-0, Faisalabad outplayed DG Khan 3-0, Gujranwala narrowly overcame Sahiwal 3-2, Multan secured a 3-0 win against Bahawalpur, and Sargodha stunned Lahore 3-0.
