NAROWAL: Under a Punjab government project, special teams of Sialkot district police have been equipped with body cameras and other modern gadgets and weapons to prevent crimes and address complaints of misconduct by the personnel during snap checking.

District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad says that under the `Safe Sialkot` project, special police teams have been constituted for snap checking in Sialkot and Daska to protect the lives and property of the citizens.

He said these police teams, equipped with body cameras, bulletproof jackets, modern automatic weapons and other gadgets. The body cameras and other electronic gadgets with police teams would collect audio-visual data and would be linked to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority system, he added.

The teams, the DPO said, would set up additional check post in crime hot spots within 45 minutes and check the suspected criminals with the help of a computer application. He appealed to the people to cooperate with police teams during the snap checking as the project launched by the Punjab government was aimed to secure their lives and property.

He said the body cameras would also help resolve the complaint of inappropriate attitude by police personnel while dealing with people.The DPO said that traffic police personnel would also be provided with body cameras to resolve public complaints regarding unnecessary challans by them.

MURDER FIR: In the light of their initial investigation, police on Friday registered a first information report (FIR) of `murder` of two minor brothers, found dead in a an iron box in their house at Bahlolpur village, against their alleged unidentified killer(s).

Kot Naina Station House Officer (SHO) Sub Inspector Wajid Ali in his report said that on being informed of the death of the minors -Haider Ali (4) and Nawaz (6) -he reached the spot with the police team.

He said that the preliminary information and evidence suggest that the two minors were locked in an iron box by unidentified person(s), resulting their death from suffocation.

The police have registered the FIR against the unidentified killer(s) on the complaint of SHO Wajid Ali, under section 302 of the PPC.

The deceased children had reportedly gone missing and later during a search were found dead in an iron box lying in their house. Initially, it was being suspected that the children got locked inside the box while playing, and died from suffocation.

The police investigation team had shifted the bodies to the Shakargah Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for the postmortem examination and other legal formalities.
