SAHIWA L: A labourer was killed and an employee was critically injured when the roof of a cloth shop collapsed while demolishing an illegal structure at Sori Gali.

Reports said the shop owner had hired Ali Raza, a labourer-cum-welder, to demolish an illegal structure of his shop in compliance with recent demarcation by the municipalcorporation as part of an ongoing anti-encroachment operation.

Ali Raza was assisted by shop employee Abdullah in removing debris. Eyewitnesses said the labourer did not take precautionary measures, leading to the collapse of shop`s roof and both the men trapped under the debris. Area shopkeepers shifted them to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital where Ali Raza succumbed to his injuries.
