GUJRAT: Scores of Jamaat-i-1slami workers staged a sit-in in front of the Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) offices on GT Road for not reducing electricity rates despite the renewed agreements with IPPs.

Led by Punjab JI EmirDr Tariq Saleem and Gujrat district emir Shabbir Khawar, the party workers staged a rally from Islamic Centre on the call of party emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman.

The participants were carrying banners and placards inscribed with thedemand of reducing electricity rates. The rally culminated at Gepco offices where JI workers staged a sit-in and remained there for at least one hour.

Dr Tariq Saleem vowed to continue to strive for the rights of the poor masses. Correspondent
