KARACHI: Police on Tuesday claimed to have recovered a big cache of weapons buried in a playground in an Orangi Town area.
They said that acting on a tip-off police dug up a portion of the ground in Sector 4-C and recovered the arms cache.
The weapons recovered included four sub-machine guns, one TT pistol, 50 bullets of SMGs and 25 bullets of the G-3 rifle.
Meanwhile, the Pirabad police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a suspected robber who had killed a citizen over resistance within the remit of the Taimuria police station.
A police spokesperson said that Mohammed Sumair was shot dead on Feb 18 when he put up resistance to an armed mugging bid.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested suspect Bilal alias Kala and recovered an unlicensed piston and a stolen motorbike.
The spokesperson said that the suspect revealed that he was also involved in certain “contract killing” cases. Further investigations are under way.—Staff Reporter
