GCUF alumnus donates Rs10m for school

TOBA TEK SINGH: The foundation stone of a community school was laid on the new campus of the Government College University, Faisalabad, on Tuesday by GCUF alumnus Engineer Qamar Zaman and VC Dr Shahid Kamal.
Mr Zaman also contributed Rs10 million toward the construction of the school, which will initially house nursery and prep classes. Mr Zaman has donated Rs4 million for the expansion and renovation of the main library of the old campus.
He donated 14 acres to the university, on which new departments of the university will be constructed.
POLICE: The Jhang police arrested two persons on Tuesday for male ing bogus calls to police emergency number 15.
A Jhang police press release said the Satellite Town police arrested Muhammad Danish for a wrong rape complaint, while the city police arrested Muhammad Waris for a fake robbery call.
SCOUTS: The golden jubilee celebrations of the UAF (University ofAgriculture, Faisalabad) Rovers Scouts were held on Tuesday, during which scouts exhibited their skills to cope with different situations and presented skits.
UAF Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan said scouts set examples for others to follow in order to serve humanity and spread the message of brotherhood in society. He said that the university was committed to serving the nation through sl(illed manpower, valuable research, and outreach programmes.
He said the UAF always stood with the nation in times of natural disasters like floods and earthquakes and played its due role in fighting the challenges.
ACCIDENT: One person was killed and five others injured in a headon collision between two motorcyclesatFaisalabad near Bhatta Stop of Jarranwala on Tuesday night.
Rescue 1122 said the deceased was identified as four-year-old Zohra Bibi.
Her injured sister Sehar Bibi, 8, brother Ghulam Muhayuddin, 7, father Akram, 42, Chand Fiaz, 20, and Fauzia Arshad, 5, wereshifted to Jarranwala THQ Hospital.
