GUJRAT: A man was shot dead allegedly by his rivals at the Judicial Complex of Wazirabad on Friday. A passer-by was also injured in the incident.

Ali Abbas Cheema was attacked by the armed men of his rivals in the compound of the judicial complex when he was going to the office of his lawyer after attending the court hearing of an attempt-to-murder case registered against him.

He was on bail.

As a result of firing, Abbas and a passer-by Ehtshamul Haq got injured. Ali Abbas was being shifted to Wazirabad District Headquarters Hospital when he succumbed tohis wounds whereas the other injured person was being given the treatment at the hospital. His condition is said to be out of danger.

The assailants managed to nee the scene soon after the incident.

SSP Dr Raza Tanveer Sipra and SP Saddar inspected the crime scene.

A spokesman for police said City Police Officer Gujranwala Ayaz Saleem holding the additional charge of Wazirabad district police officer, has sought a report, trace from the SP Saddar.

Saddar police registered a case against Naeem Arain and his unidentified accomplices for murdering Ali Abbas Cheema on the report of his brother Khizer Abbas Cheema.
