Saif promises media colony for Swabi journalists

SWABI: Adviser to chief minister on information Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif administered oath to the newly-elected cabinet of the Swabi Press Club here on Friday.

The ceremony was also attended by additional secretary information Mohammad Hayat Shah and director general Salim Khan.

The new cabinet members for the current year included Jalil Ahmad Khan president, Mohammad Ayub vice-president, Muqaddam Khan general secretary, Mohammad Adil deputy general secretary, Arif Shah joint secretary, and Mohammad Iqbal finance secretary.

Speaking on this occasion, Barrister Saif underscored the provincial government`s unwavering commitment to addressing challenges faced by journalists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said the government was dedicated to providing necessary resources and facilities to enable journalists to perform their duties with dignity and professionalism.

Barrister Saif reiterated that the government was fully cognizant of the issues confronting journalists and press clubs across the province, and was taking pragmatic steps to address these concerns, thereby strengthening both the journalistic community and democratic institutions.

He also reminded journalists of their pivotal role in society, urging them to highlight public issues responsibly while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.

He emphasised the importance of fact-based reporting in fostering social cohesion and countering misinformation and divisive narratives.

Barrister Saif also promised that the government would take necessary steps to establish a media colony for journalists of Swabi and allocate a dedicated office space for the Swabi Press Club. Correspondent
