SIALKOT: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) foiled an attempt of heroin smuggling from the Sialkot International Airport and arrested two Nigerian female suspects for carrying heroin capsules in their bodies on Tuesday.
According to the ANF officials, Nigerian nationals Sandra and Namakoo were trying to travel to Muscat through the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) when the ANF staff detected several heroin capsules during scanning of their bodies.
Both of the suspects were shifted to Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital for getting heroin capsules out from their bodies.
HEC: Punjab Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr Nizamuddin says the commission is striving to ensure provision of conducive and pleasant educational environment in colleges and universities.
Addressing participants in a ceremony at the University of Gujrat (UoG) Sialkot Campus Dr Nizam said promotion of quality education was the top priority of the government.
The HEC was also intending to improve its teaching programmes for the teachers, stressing that the universities should groom their teachers. He pledged to make efforts to ensure quality higher education for people across Punjab.
UoG Sialkot campus Director General Dr Anwar Ahmed announced Rs2.5m `Imam Bibi Endowment Fund` at this campus for the deserving students, opening the doors of quality higher education to them. The endowment fund has been attributed to Imam Bibi, the mother of Allama Iqbal.
UoG Chairman Faisal Manzur and CEO Rehan Younas, teachers and students were also present.
